Do we wear things because they are popular or we make them popular?

We dress up because of the climate, the tradition, the personal 
expression and intimacy. In this international and modern world, everything is always changing including the tendencies and styles.

Everything designers say and make up can create new trends that will change many people style. They work hard, day by day and perfectly synchronize to sell and  get a lot of money. Sometimes they make macro trends which influence in a massive quantity of people, micro trends only affect a part of the society and there are also fads which don’t get many people’s attraction and have little potential. How we see people dressed in the streets sometimes lets us know how their way of life is.

Around us, different urban tribes walk through the streets. We can see with their clothing that their life style is different than ours. Our society has a rich variety of styles. In Barcelona, in the same street we can find posh people, hippies, punks, snobs, gothic people, etc.

For example, we can identify gothic people by their dark clothing and spikes necklaces which show their need of being different and rebel attitude. That’s their personality and we can’t judge it.

We can find different styles depending in our surroundings. In our school, we wear uniform, which helps us not to judge each other by our clothes. In the other side, our families styles change by the age, older people usually wear more formal clothes than teenagers who have lots of different styles but publicity fools us with marketing and makes us believe that their trends are the best.

Nowadays some trends can be really high-lighted for example; a lot of people wear wide sweaters, skinny jeans, t-shirts with elbow patches and “panama jack” shoes.
